Bangpor Area Guide

Where to stay in Bangpor, Koh Samui.

A guide to the Bangpor hillside on Koh Samui — three hilltop villas (Pure, Vista, Soma) sleeping up to 22 across the cluster, west-facing pools, and an honest read on when Bangpor is the right answer versus when our KW³ compound in Maenam is.

Bangpor is a quiet residential hillside overlooking the Maenam coastline, on the north coast of Koh Samui. Three of our nine villa residences are anchored here — Pure Villa, Vista Villa and Soma Villa — each built on the hill above Bangpor Bay with a west-facing pool angled for the sunset. The nearest sand, a separately-named Bangpor Beach below the hillside, is reached in a 5-minute drive. This is the part of Samui guests choose when they want a panoramic seaview, hilltop privacy, and a 4 PM pool that the sun walks straight into — and accept that the beach is a short drive, not a walk.

What Bangpor is — and what it is not

Bangpor is not a beachfront neighbourhood. It is the hillside immediately above the Maenam coastline, with single-villa plots set into the slope and a quiet residential road threading between them. The view is west-southwest, across Bangpor Bay and the Maenam coastline beyond, towards Ang Thong's limestone cliffs and the mainland mountains. This is the view our Pure Villa description references directly — "a panoramic view stretching from Ang Thong's limestone cliffs to the mainland mountains" — and it is the same view, in different framings, from Vista and Soma.

It is also worth being precise about the beach. The strip of sand at the foot of the Bangpor hillside is a distinct, separately-named Bangpor Beach — not the same continuous stretch as Maenam Beach further east. Our flat-walk beachside compound, KW³, sits on the Maenam side; the Bangpor villas sit on the hilltop above the bay. Two adjacent coastal pockets, two very different villa experiences. Eight of our nine villa types sit in one of these two neighbourhoods, and the choice between them is the first decision most guests make.

The Bangpor question — view, or walk?

The honest framing: if you want to walk to the beach from your front door, you should not stay in Bangpor. You should stay in Maenam — most likely inside our KW³ Collection, where the sea is reached in two unhurried minutes on foot, flat the whole way.

If, on the other hand, you want a 180-degree seaview from your pool deck, sunset framed by your living-room glass, and the kind of stillness only a hilltop with a shared community gardener tending the hillside produces — Bangpor is the neighbourhood, and one of the three villas below is the answer. You will need a car for the beach (five minutes by road), but you will spend most of your week not wanting to leave the property.

The three Bangpor villas, compared

All three are hillside residences in Bangpor with private west-facing pools and panoramic seaviews. They differ in size, bedroom count, and architectural intent.

Pure Villa — 4BR, 350sqm, from THB 9,900

A four-bedroom hillside residence with a panoramic view stretching from Ang Thong's limestone cliffs to the mainland mountains. The infinity pool faces west — sunset is the headline event. Four bedroom suites across two levels, each with private balcony and sea view. The living area is a single open volume, framed by retractable glass walls. Best for: families of up to 8 wanting elevated seaviews; couples-with-kids stays where parents and children share the villa but not the floor.

Vista Villa — 4BR, 350sqm, from THB 9,900

Built on a single architectural premise — every window in the house captures a different angle of Bangpor Bay. Four bedroom suites, all sea-facing. The pool is set into the upper terrace where the light is best at sunset. Smart-home controls, floor-to-ceiling windows, dedicated villa manager. Best for: architecture and design enthusiasts; travellers who notice and value detail; families of up to 8 with a photography or art lean.

Soma Villa — 3BR Seaview, 260sqm, from THB 10,800

A three-bedroom hillside home designed for stillness. The pool faces west, the terrace overhangs the canopy, and the only sound is birdsong. Brushed timber, woven rattan, slow-fired clay. A daybed pavilion on the upper terrace. Best for: couples or small families wanting a hillside seaview at a 3-bedroom price; honeymooners with one or two children or grandparents; yoga retreats, writers, painters.

A practical note on the price-per-bedroom: Pure and Vista, at THB 9,900 from 4 bedrooms, are the lower per-bedroom rate in the cluster. Soma, at THB 10,800 from 3 bedrooms, is the higher per-bedroom rate — but it is also the most architecturally compact and the most private. For parties of 6 deciding between Soma's 3BR-Seaview and Pure or Vista at 4BR with one room unused, the trade is privacy and compactness against extra footprint.

Bangpor vs Maenam — when to choose which

Both areas sit on the same north coast, and the airport is roughly 30 minutes by car from any of the Bangpor villas. The same on-call services — resident chef, butler, in-villa massage, nanny — are available across the portfolio, arranged through our concierge. The question is what you want your week to feel like.

Practical logistics in Bangpor

Who Bangpor is wrong for

Worth stating plainly, because picking the wrong neighbourhood is the single most fixable booking mistake.

If, after reading the above, the answer is still Bangpor — one of Pure, Vista, or Soma will fit your party. We will recommend which when you message us with your dates and group.

At a glance

Common questions

Where is Bangpor on Koh Samui? Bangpor is a hillside residential area on the north coast of Koh Samui, immediately above the Maenam coastline. It is roughly 30 minutes by car from Samui International Airport. The hillside overlooks Bangpor Bay to the west and southwest.

Is Bangpor the same as Maenam? No. Bangpor is the hillside above the Maenam coastline — adjacent to Maenam but topographically and tonally distinct. The beach below the Bangpor hillside is a separately-named Bangpor Beach, not the same continuous stretch as Maenam Beach.

Can you walk to the beach from a Bangpor villa? No. Each of our three Bangpor villas — Pure, Vista and Soma — is a hillside residence, with the nearest beach a 5-minute drive away. Guests prioritising flat, walk-to-beach access should consider our KW³ Collection in Maenam instead.

Can I book more than one Bangpor villa for a larger group? Yes. Pure, Vista and Soma are separate plots on the same hillside, and our concierge can arrange a multi-villa booking for an extended-family group. For 24+ guests on a single private lane, the KW³ compound in Maenam is structured for that scenario; the Bangpor villas are not a single compound.
